Newmarkets Nuffield Street is the home new home of posh with Trealise Cooper for Kids, Karyn Walker, a variety of café's and restaurants and expensive gourmet stationary shops. So of course it was only fitting that the weekly lycra clad breakfast and coffee ride had to try it out, testing there patience and perception with a colourful lycra clad bodies. The café of choice was Tasca, a large Mexican themed café with large board room table's that perfectly suited our large group of ten plus riders.
The breakfast menu was the normal options of french toast, eggs benedict, and bagels with a few spicy Mexican options for those willing at lunch time. While the café was empty for our visit the service was exceptional, especially dealing with such a large group, giving me high hopes for my French toast and coffee to come. I wasn't disappointed with the french toast as it tickled the taste buds despite not quite fulfilling my visual aesthetics with no garnishing. But hey, that's just being picky. The coffee was well, lacking that punch really needed on a Friday morning at 7am, with too much milkiness for a double shot flat white leaving me left wondering if it was the beans, machine, or barista? A second try is definitely on the cards.
Open nice and early, and seven days Tasca is a worthwhile try and competitive prices by Auckland standards with most breakfasts around the $11 mark, but ranging from $8 to 14. And with a roomy feel, and great bar to match I imagine it will be a festive season delight.
